would it be fair to say 22mpg is right for (td5 disco 04) short runs around and about locally, just wondering how it compares to others...thanks

depends on how you drive in my 300tdi i get about 28mpg mix of 3 and 12 mile runs with mixed driving i'm guessing a td5 should be better

Just pottering around town i get 21mpg (still got egr and cat), on a run i did to black pool 70mph 90% the way there, stop start nearly all the way back and aircon on i got 29mpg over all.
I am happy with that, better than my old 4.6

I have blanked my egr but not got around to the cat yet
going on a 250 run towing my van soon so we will see how that pans out

Fill it up so the pump clicks off , then drive a couple of hundred miles, go back to same pump and fill up until it clicks off . Note how many litres you put, then do your sums. Just for example. 40 ltr does 200 miles . Convert litres to gallons divide by 4.54 , = 8.8 gallons . Then divide miles by 8.8. 200 miles divided by 8.8 = 22.7 mpg. Does that make sense ? :D
