My torque wrench decided to not work about 4 bolts in the other day so I panicked about them not being correct. Read online that 40nm with 60 then 60 equals between 120-130 nm so i thought if I did all mine to 120 they would be the same.. All went OK except number 6 which I did too much and snap... Not sure what to do now.. lost interest in it a while back
Well I've deffo killed a bolt that's for sure. Like I say I've lost interest think I'll just cover it with a tarp n leave the shocker to rust for a couple year until I can be arsed with it.
To think it wasn't the head in the first place.. Digging myself a bigger hole lol.
Couldn't. Would lose too much money on it that's the sad part. I've got three options. Run it with a snapped head bolt as I've nothing to lose..
Take the head off again and drill and tap the bolt I snapped (does anyone know the tap I would need?)
I do also have a spare gasket for it and it's not too hard to remove the head.
Or leave it at the back of the drive until I can be bothered with it.
Not worth the chance imo. New bolts, new gasket. Also the headgasket still looks brand new. Reuse or new?
Ok so tonight after work i got an hour to spend on the truck, my 3 year old got rushed back into hop sunday morning on my only day off work, typical. so tonight i managed an hour..
I can't describe the feeling i felt when i saw the stud stood proud lol...
what i dont get is the fact that the bolts weren't actually that tight but this 1 has not only snapped but its bent.
They were new bolts and I already have a new gasket.
