4 new bulbs and polishing the 'circuit board' with scotchbrite later....

so, thats working for now:D:D:D

difflock, foglamp, mainbeam & headlamp, indicator (but not hazard??), low-fuel, oil pressure and battery / alternator charge all illuminate:cool:

new tunnel & floorplate screws delivered today so thats tomorrows task before roadtest & maybe mot booking:eek:

Rich.

Was bored so had a quick read…
Love the build & write up.

yes to the handbrake having JCB pads ;)
(I did not trust mine for a few days as it did not feel right, then I realised it was because it was working too well. Now im good and all fine)

Lack of hazards on dash. Mine flashes the hazard on switch & trailer light on dash. (Trailer light flashes once with normal indicator use)

like the new speedo and set up.

enjoy getting/seeing new ideas been properly documented even the problems which will help others.
Keep building

was a lucky guess (& the x-eng advertising suggest it:p)

good to get feedback as theres mixed reviews so hopefully a good mod

I'm going to get brave and investigate the hazard switch in case of a replacable bulb, as to the trailer warning lamp - it flashes once with the indicators but nothing with the hazards and as they both share the same loom feeds etc thats slightly confusing (off to decipher the wiring diagrams:confused:)

this Ninety is a common or 'normal' conversion but I've time to try and add a few extras like the speedo - hopefully accurate in these speedcamera filled days:cool:

anyway, in other busness....

ebay again & a cheeky offer bags an alisport big intercooler (supposedly alisport & for a 300 disco but will adapt if it fits the space availableo_O) - will it be an improvement for the Landy OR just make me feel better:oops:

Rich.

You can tell I’m bored…(wandered out and looked at my motor)
So small screw driver down the edge & pops the front cover off. As you can see there is a small bulb.
Now quick check and my bulb not working & trailer lights don’t flash but I also have LEDs
(Indicator on dash flashes)

ebay again...

meWXBrU.jpg

supposedly an Alisport item (I wouldn't know how to check:confused:) from a 300tdi Disco...
cheeky ebay 'best offer' and its here:)

EIh3xQg.jpg

bit bigger than the origonal tdi type:D

will it fit?

can I successfully bodge it?

hopefully:cool:

Rich.

Remove original intercooler & the new 1 goes infront of the rad & pipework comes out in the gap of the old IC. Don’t think the pipe work needs changing as the Ali sport has longer inlet/outlet

I 'think' that the pipe-stubs havebeen shortened by a few inches - hence the low price offer accepted:D

easily adapted with some hose & a suitable bodge:(

hopefullyo_O

will have a looksee at fitting later, removing the grille & it's surround is going to be the hardest job...

Rich.

so...
decided to clean / rinse the inside of the intercooler, petrol is my preffered if not expensive favourite but I'm wishing I hadn't bothered now:(

9M1twzJ.jpg

one tube has a pinhole...

DNmmqXj.jpg

and anotherlooks to have lost its 'braze' seal to the endplate:confused:

I can weld the pinhole without too much swearing but the braze will be a little more complicatedo_O

sQFxxC8.jpg

while I had the camera out (iphon) and it was somewhat cleaner I decided to see what the inside of the core looked like - think this is the 'top' / outlet side if it makes any difference?)
is this the Alisport core?

Fucknose:D:D:D

MGgyiNy.jpg

also, bought a new fuelfilter housing (with a free filter:p) for sensible money (iirc ~£20?) so that'll look better than the old 200tdi / disco type I've fitted to the Ninety:)

AND....

I drove it:cool:

the engine pulls well and I had ~60mph before shitting-out:oops:
the X-eng disc hadbrake squeals like a banshee so I'm going to remove the caliper to 'free' or grease the sliders etc.
I tried autocalibrating the VDO electronic speedo but theres a problem & I think its not seeing any pulses from the (expensive genuine LR) vss i fitted - will investigate further then its ready for MOT:cool:

NEXT:rolleyes:

Rich.

Just a thought on the speedo drive. Have you got a tight fit on the end(between worm drive & sensor)? Think where the speedo cable pushes in is larger than the later electric drives.

thats something I was wondering abouto_O

thanks for the idea:cool:

This is my recollection too - plus, IIRC, the drive peg dimensions changed about ~96 - before is was "x"mm and female - after it was "y"mm and male or somesuch - or maybe there was an "adaptor" involved ?

so, the VDO (td5? 3 wire type) vss sender has the same size square drive as the origonal speedo cable so thats not it.

I've found (yup, its a bombsite here, everything is spread around like a mad-woman's shit:oops:) the 300tdi Disco vss sender (2 wire) so will try that.

and, the squeaking that I've diagnosed as the disc handbrake conversion caliper / pads might be the transferbox's output shaft seal tin cover:rolleyes:

more faffin to follow....

Rich.

wasnt the transferbox rear seal cover that was squeakin.......

more to follow if I can upload the vid....

Rich.

more faffin.....

still not had time / effort to fix the last few issues for mot

PisH7Xy.jpg

but did paint (badly:confused:) the front & rear bumper things...

KzyYtzb.jpg

with Hammerite smooth in the fetching shade of black:cool:

still a scruffy Landy but the bumpers look slightly more presentable:oops:

Rich.

no real progress, been stuck in work so still no mot....

ok, it's literally sort the non-working rear lights (fusebox issues???) but all excuses are good excuses?

YU1F0Z4.jpg

have parked it @ a jaunty angle though:D

also, have another distraction:oops:

FO9XWJF.jpg

the outlaw's 1997 Rocky / Fourtrack td to mot and fix leaky fuel pipes, I've mot'd it twice with some welding done 2 years ago and mecanical work / tyres last year so guessing its time for more welding (once I've fixed the fuel leak - tank off today:eek:)

Are they like discos in that once you start welding, you’re forever chasing the rust then? I’m sure the engine could make a decent conversion for a Landy…
