Hi Guys, I have a problem starting my 1999 Diesel Range Rover.
It was running great but recently became hard to start, until now it dead - not firing - nothing. I have checked obvious like Immobilization code, glow plug relay, wiring, fuses, fuel pump and supply to pump etc but no joy. I opened a injector pipe to check fuel pressure but no fuel came out when engine cranked over; I was experiencing poor mpg, and purchased the tools to re-time the pump to allow for timing chain slack (156k miles) but didn't get round to doing the job.
I read on here some time ago about an issue where timing solenoid electro magnet modulator things fails or sticks due to timing correction. Is this correct and can anyone shed any light on the issue, and can it be fixed or swapped?
On cranking the engine over in a short burst then releasing key, you can hear a fast clicking sound from ontop of the FIP. I have uploaded the video youtube: Range Rover P38 2.5 DSE FIP fault - engine not start - YouTube
I have the Nancom Evo and plugged in - but no faults present in EDC ECU, BECM etc.
Hope someone can help get it sorted.
