The mount goes before the cat gives up...Cat and front pipe on diesel pretty much indestructible. Some people change them out to SS but original seems to last forever so nothing to worry about.
There could also be wood worn in some of the trim panels. And rust worm in the...Pardon my ignorance but is it possible to get rid of the cat or isn't it an issue and I'm over worrying
Just had another thought, do the diesels of all years come under the 'normal' ved cost, same as my 86 tratter? (I am really out of touch with anything 'modern')
I've read that it's in the emmisions on how much the ved costs but is any of this applicable to a diesel 38?
Mines a 2000 and only 280 a year BUT with my disability allowance only 140 a year. Boy does that make some of the locals pig sickJust had another thought, do the diesels of all years come under the 'normal' ved cost, same as my 86 tratter? (I am really out of touch with anything 'modern')

2001, I think. I remember thinking if mine was a year newer it would double the tax.Not on my '95 it doesn't. Don't think that came in until 2006?
Cat isn't an issue. Mine is original and has never been any problem. Doubt it does much after 26 years but goes through MoT test each year with no advisory.
That's what was worrying me, I want a late low mileage clean one but I don't want to pay extra ved if that's the case.2001, I think. I remember thinking if mine was a year newer it would double the tax.
Then start saving for a gearbox ,,if auto ,mines a 2000 diesel and i was £290 think this year ,Paper work said £280 ,it usually goes up £5 a year ,but this time around it was £10,,,,,worth every penny for our magnificent roads,....Its like a off road trip ,which justifies having a off roader. I .I will say though never broke an air spring ......modern day car metal springs are crap nowadays ,,Buy a pre egr car, fit the Wildbear decat pipe, get yourself down to Endtuning and have them fit one of their chips and you’ll be golden. They’ll be extinct by the time you get round to buying one though
I saw one yesterday going in the opposite direction to me on the motorway. All the ones for sale are bloody miles away anyway. No rush really , got other stuff to shift to raise funds/make room first otherwise it won't fit on the drive and will have to live on the road.
I'm near to the final stages of my garage build/ garden relocation/ patio laying/block pavior drive project too so a P38 would be another distraction I don't need at the moment, plus gives me more time for a nice more local one to pop up for sale.
I've noticed a couple on eBay that don't have switches on the front seat squab, what are they for, if fitted?
Guessing heated seats and something else?
