What do people suggest as being the best way to avoid an airlock when renewing a fuel filter on the 2.5 DSE engine?
The manual says use the LRT-12-117 tool which undoes the unions on the injectors, but they say on the FIP!
Surely the air will be in the low pressure side and loosening the fuel pipe to the FIP would be best, but only if the low pressure pump comes on with the ignition.
Any comments?

Datatek, as usual is right.

Fill new one with fuel, car will start as normal. Worst case I have had, I had to start it again when it cut out.

No specialist tools required! ;)

A slight hijack! :D
Every how long should I be replacing the fuel filter on my 1996 DSE? Is it every oil change?

Thats the usual, if you have "cheap" fuel in Israel (like our Supermarket fuels) you should definatley change annually or with an oil change whichever comes first.

There is a bleed nut on the FIP, the clear pipe runs into it- just crack it open a touch, the air will be forced out of the nut, while starting engine it will splutter for a few seconds but will start, make sure you tighten up the nut afterwards.
