The reason for not stripping the hub before removal was one of the calliper bolts rounded off so had to drill it out. Same for the other side.

Looking good, what rust treatment have you used?

From toolstation:
Toolstation > Painting & Decorating > Metal Paints & Primers

The Flag rust converter- Needed about 3 small tins to complete chassis, axles and brackets.

Then top coated with one coat of the Flag hammer finish paint. (Very difficult to clean brushes even with white spirit so I tried to do as much as possible in one and then throw the brush away)

Hopefully that will give the chassis a few more years of life before I go for a galvanised chassis.

Plenty of Dinitrol on the inside and it might last a lot longer than that ;):)

By replacing the outriggers and crossmember, hopefully it should last a bit longer but eventually its going to need a new chassis. When the outriggers were off, I washed out the mud out of the inside of the chassis and pulled all the rust out so hopefully that should help. The mobile welder that I had said he had heard about putting old engine oil in it, but i'd rather leave it dry and then when the time comes, just replace the whole thing.

Engine oil is good too!

I'll put up some pictures of the transfer box being taken to bits tomorrow. The input gear was very worn....

Good stuff, I like pics of the inner workings! I was going to do a big strip down like that on mine, but due to time constraints I'm not going to yet unless required.
