Inbetween my frustration at the engine wiring i smurfed everything except the passengers wing :)

Reassembled the bonnet frame into the skin tonight and fitted the new tub cappings so the next coat covers the rivets. its starting to look good. Needs a new tub floor but that can be done later , non critical just now.

Maybe get the tub lifted back on tomorrow if i can get a helper

Going to australia for a month on monday :/

Side view.

Everythings bolted down , tub - bulkhead , wing , front slam panel , roof truck cab.

Couple of issues though.

Are defender 200tdi radiator cradles taller than 19js

The top brackets dont really want to fit right - almost as if the rad is too high in relation to the wing.

Youll be spared any inane updates for a month. Flying ti australia today for a month. Lets go ute spotting.

Although my hands will freek anyone out. Tey are oilier than an average lt77

Cock. I missed out the fact the radiator brackets sit higher on the 19j chassis ... Glad i didnt fill the system. Radiator and intercooler back out when i get home it seems and cut down the front mounts by 28mm. Cock , its just a plate with a hole in it iirc so cut off 28mm and weld a new plate across the stump then drill relevent hole should suffice.

What a dick :)

Bonnet shuts but i did think it off that the intercooler pipe wanted to be up in the bonnet.

I reused the top bit of the bracket, just took a bit out and welded it back on

ill probably do that.i guess i can just flatten out the bit i cut off and trim to suit :D

Seems i may have scored some doors off here to save me spending insane money on new doors from SP4x4 - which is nice.

just means i have to drive to royston vasey again !

got it running.

Engine sounds sweet , (would have been a bloody expensive paperweight if it didnt....bought blind off a pallet)!

Timely posts and me looking ..

Been having trouble fitting my 300Tdi rad and intercooler, same reason, too high, but we'd already decided we were going to cut down the chassis mounting plates, so it's nice to have it conformed! Thanks .. :)

Hopefully my engine will be running this weekend coming .. ;)

i ended up just removing the rubber bush from the lower end and she fitted fine - any major issues with that ?

we have slowed up progress recently but its still going slowely.

ive had to resort to a new(er) loom off here as mines looks like a melted mess.

i picked up some series doors from vil

Got my rear prop fitted , brake calipers fitted up , all flexies hooked up , clutch plumbed in , all the steerings plumbed in and working , it starts - a touch smokey but im reckon thats valve stem seals OR glows being dead - they only seeing 10v at heat up.

seat box is in , cooling systems plumbed in and filled up

Nothing really sexy for photos.

Check my shut lines . They are awesome

But then i dont have hinges or catches or locks its just ratchet straps holding them in !
