i'm guessing you're fitting replacement dumbirons (generic pattern ones), if so be prepared to slightly modify them (no two ever seem to fit the same)

also watch the positioning of the bolt holes for the bumper, i got one slightly "nose down" which meant i had to modify my bumper to get it back on sitting square when i boobed

anyway your work is looking good, you might even have it finished in time for LaTP

it's been a wonderful day for cutting and welding, i was buried in rotting bulkhead today :D

Hello folks,

I've got the jig made for the alinement of the front dumirons, the offside dumiron cut off and the replacement one cut and prep ready for welding tomorrow.

Hello,

well one dumiron is on and finished, hopefully next weekend I'll have all the welding finished

It's all good fun

Regards Chris

looks good, i am always amazed when people with good metalwork and welding skills seem to make light work of fixing something i would have assumed had totally had it.

Hey up folks,

The chassis is FINISHED !!!!!! well not quite but nearly.

I've made new bumpstop plates

And got the nearside dumiron on

it's in red oxide primer ready for black next weekend

Also i've brought these.

and these :D

oh and the petrol jenny was £60

well happy with how things are going

regards Chris

Thanks fellas

Its amazing how much its progressed in the last couple of weekends.

piston-return-spring - The welding is easy (i say that lightly) once you know how but main thing is practice, keep doing it, its how i learnt.

hopefully I'll have it in gloss black by next weekend, but at the moment I'm looking at making or buying a nearside front tank bracket.

like the military ones have, so I can fit twin tanks to her rather than chop the bottom out of the second to last x member to fit a CSW rear tank.

any ideas on this are much apprecated.

Regards Chris

I made the tank for my Series, which was dead easy as it was all welded together using gas, simply running the edges into each other with minimal filler wire.

I used 3mm sheet throughout, with the top filler cap brazed on prior to final assembly.

Cost next to nothing, and it was still intact last time I saw it, and that was after 30 years!

Hey up Oldseadog, a front or rear tank ? Oh I've been filmed by Look North at work today, the reporter was lovely ;) :5bdrool5:

Those dumb irons look bloody brilliant. I've got to do mine soon as well, not quite as bad as yours were though.
