Personally what worries me more is those driving out there in their late 80's with deteriorating vision, hearing and reflexes. I bet they don't have to fork out 3 grand for insurance

No - but when they 'crash' it is either at fourteen mph or into a brick wall in the Lidl carpark.

Or occasionally into a small child who has just run into the road as they don't have the reactions to brake in time.

Bad way to go, lots of my friends did this and failed to build up no claims...by mid twenties I was laughing, they were not! However, the suggestion of putting parents on kids policy is bang-on advice and will make a big difference. I'm 37 with full no claims and no points...and putting my mum on as a named driver still saves me £20!!

Also, encourage parents to go with someone like Admiral and go for a multicar policy within the house...seems to be a good way to go.

Hope this helps...

P.s. key to being safe on the road is to recognise how unsafe the road is. A 17 yr old in a 2 tonne car fills me with dread...driving a car is easy...driving a road is hard...take care dude

my mums been on every car ive had apart from my series lol

I'm 20 with 1 year NCB on my Citroen ****box (licence held 3 years). Only pay £400 a year TPFT - comprehensive wasn't worth it with £200 excess and the vehicle value <£300.

I'm getting quotes varying from £700 to £1k for my 2.5 petrol landy but I reckon I could get it down to £500-£600 by moving my NCB onto it and going with specialist insurance.

Between when i was 17 and now, my insurance costs seem to have dropped off a cliff. I'm looking forward to my post-21 renewal :)

Yeah starting to think I'm fighting a losing battle

dont give up its worth it for the freedom you gain even if you have a **** box for your first year to get your no claims up, take it easy too just because you have passed doesnt make you a good driver that takes time and experience ;)

I love this quote.. you are so right!:D:D

OK.... so I do notget it.....

I wouldnot go get a Ferrari because I can not afford the insurance...instead I might rebuild a classic ferrari and use it for shows only therefore only havinglow insurance. In the meantime I may or maynotbe tempted to drive a fiat 500 for two or three years building a discount that Icould then use when insuring th ferrari for proper usual use...

Errr......

Substitute "Ferrari" for "Land Rover"

I hope thats not an offer..as it may spoil the taste of this fruity australian red.

Still...:p
I have it on good (though anonymous) authority that your tongue retains flavours of virgins worldwide!

While I would prefer to attain such taste firsthand.....

Euugh did I type that our loud?!

Tis a lie..... I was looking forward to 21....nothing.
maybe it was 25..... nothing.

Getting a real job was what did the trick. Then a mortgage. Then married...

Now I can afford to insure anything for less than £350 :D. But sadly I'm now too old for that WRX STI 555 'enormous spoiler' Subaru now :p.

Yeah but at least you can wait while the kids descover it and come to you for the loan to pay the insurance!

Whats so messed up about this whole Insurance thing is that it seems to be not so much about the car now, more it seems about were you live.

Im 22 been driving 3 years with no NCB and can insure my Discovery for less than any corsa or fiesta no matter how small the engine, its a joke.

Last few months I've been running a Subaru Forester S Turbo also insured for way less than any ****box. So how can a 180BHP road going rally car be classed as less risk than lets say my first car a 1.25 Fiesta
