If the fuel pump is in the rear wheel arch then it is the only one they changed in 02. As for power loss on hill does the engine managment light come on when the fault happens?

Hi all ,if you have a pump in fuel tank ,you can hear it running ,if you turn on the ignition ,dont start the engine ,just listen you will hear it running.
There is one in my 04 freelander ive had it out.

hi i have the same problem, but landrover told me there is 2 types of pump for a 2003 td4 1 has a seperator 1 doesnt???? does anyone know how i can find out which one mine is??

I've only got one pump - underneath and in front of the RH rear wheel arch. I am 99% positive there is no in-tank pump. Mines a 2004 and I think when they deleted the underbonnet pump the in-tank pump went too.

I do not consider that it was an improvement as it's a bitch to change - whether the pump or the filter. :( Lying on your back with diesel running up your arm is NOT funny.

As others have said - I'd like to have just 5 minutes alone with the 'designer-engineer' who did this, in a empty room with a baseball bat.

Thank you - end of rant.

What year is it?
If you have a pump in front of th rh wheel arch then it has been known for them to be replaced with a cheaper after market unit when they fail.......which are quite often very noisy all the time and tend not to last.
Oem pumps are pierburg and cost double the money of the cheap ones at approx £120-130 but should last well over 50k.

Far easier to access the pump and filter via the wheel arch by folding back the wheel arch liner. The underside bolts still need to be un-done though.
