Fully understand your point Tincan but when my son's sunroof packed up we didn't think it was worth the effort and cost.
I haven't got a sunroof - mines a cheaper spec model! - but I cannot say I miss one. Good luck with your efforts anyway. Maybe you will need it in Italy

The clicking is probably because the roof mech. is too tight and the motor is struggling. Try pushing it gently with your hand when closing it, if the clicking stops, this would prove it.

Copy of my sketch for anyone wanting to know how the sunroof electrics work. The relay box, in headlining near motor, is not shown in Rave or haynes.
