rear suspension dropped suddenly

That's it m8......u have to diagnose it....untill then u can use it with plugs disconnected. Even if u'll be angry at one moment dont get rid of the air springs...i'll guide u how to override the ECU and controll the bags manualy if it becomes complicated or expensive to repair...though the most expensive bit in the SLS is the compressor assy(which is good on yours)
 
update and solved!!!! so with your help sierrafery we managed to rule out the air bags pipes compressor and solenoids so next step ride height senors, i checked both sides out disconnected wiring checked movement and all ok, don't know why but i thought i would check the plugs going to the sensors from the ecu bingo drivers side all corroded and fell off in my hands!!!!!! should off checked these first but with all the help from sierrafery we managed to eliminate everything till the fault was found... a quick bodge with the soldering iron everything back to normal, will give it a spin to make sure.. is there anyway i could get hold of the plug from anywhere with a little bit or wiring hanging out so i can fix it properly???? Once again sierrafery with out your time experience and knowledge i wouldn't off got there so thank you so much... saved me a small fortune and a lot of aggro... thank you :D:D
 
Welcome m8, i'm glad to hear that.....i think it's too much salt on your roads which "eated" the plugs. I dunno about a part number for these, maybe u'll find some good ones in a scrapyard. Watch out for the height now, it used to decalibrate when ride height faults were present. If u are suspicious about the height of the car u better recalibrate it with the tester...though taking into account that u have the same sensors it's quite unlikely .....but with a LR u never know;)
 
your a star will order one tonight.... the ride height seems to be the same so if it hasn't changed by now think it will be ok i have raised and lowered it several times all seems toe back to normal do you think it should be recalibrated?? do i need to go to a landrover dealer is it expensive???
 
If the height is normal and the ORM is working as well u just have to "ride like the wind"(Saxon).....nothing else. Even if u need recalibration u dont have to go to a dealer just to find a helpful chap with nanocom .... save this link for the future http://www.nanocom-locator.co.uk/

ah cool will look into it. well presume all ok, it feels no different then before, suppose i would notice if the calibration was out, ride height would be all over the place. whats ORM???
 
I better put it this way:
Off-road mode (ORM)
ORM is used to raise the rear of the vehicle from normal ride height to the ORM ride height of 100 mm between the tip of the bump stop and the axle.
ORM is activated by depressing the ORM switch located on the fascia for not less than 0.5 seconds. With the engine running, all doors closed and the vehicle speed below 18 mph (30 km/h), the audible warning will sound once and the ORM warning lamp in the instrument pack will start to flash when the switch is released. The compressor will be started and the air control valves will be energised by the ECU to inflate the air springs and raise the rear of the vehicle.
When the full ORM height is reached, the ECU will terminate compressor operation and close the air valves. The ORM warning lamp will stop flashing and remain continuously illuminated to inform the driver that the SLS system is in ORM.

When ORM is no longer required, depressing the ORM switch for not less than 0.5 seconds with all doors closed will
lower the SLS to normal ride height. The audible warning will sound once and the ORM warning lamp will flash as the
suspension lowers. The ECU energises the air control valves and the exhaust valve to release air pressure from the
air springs. When standard ride height is reached the ORM warning lamp will extinguish and the ECU will de-energise
the air control valves and the exhaust valve solenoids.
If the SLS is in ORM and the vehicle speed exceeds 18 mph (30 km/h), the ECU will lower the SLS to standard ride
height. The driver will be informed of this by an audible warning and the ORM warning lamp flashing as the suspension
lowers. When normal ride height is achieved, the ORM warning lamp will extinguish.
At sea level, the time to change the SLS from normal ride height to ORM or visa versa will take between 15 and 20
seconds.
 
didn't know what it was called done it several times today all seems good i haven't measured to see if its a 100mm in the off road position tho...... as your the font of all knowledge was going to ask you what you know about the three amigos and were the hell i would start.... they have only come on prob 5 times in 3 months but 2 off them have been in the last week or so.. when i switch the engine off and restart it they disappear.. i know the abs works and the traction control as i have tried it on the ice recently any ideas????
 
yeah i read a few theres loads!!!! i'll wait till the light comes on again and get it tested not too bothered about it at the mo.. anyway thanks for all your help and finding that part... glad its sorted..
 
U dont have to wait untill it comes back, the fault will appear as "historical", it's stored in the ECU(my feeling is that will be something like ".....shuttle valve ......"
