Thank you again to those who have offered help to my first thread.
Link: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/help-please-discovery-91668.html

Given fine weather tomorrow or Wednesday I hope to try some of these solutions.

I have posted this mark 2 thread for help please and nobody has mentioned the central locking no longer working.

I have laymans advice that the central locking uses less electricity than the headlights or horn and that maybe the control in the drivers door lock may have failed - ie not to work central locking AND therefore the engine immobilizer?

Thanks in anticipation,

nomadbob.

Try a bit of other basic electrical fault finding, before you get too hung up on the central locking. That could well be down to the alarm spider.

What else electrical works/doesn't work? The headlights are usually a good place to start. Put em on, and then try turning the ignition key. Do the headlights dim/go out or does nothing happen?

When you turn the key, do any lights illuminate on the instrument cluster? If not, that *doesnt* sound to me like it is related to the immobiliser.

I'm sure you have already done some of this, but it would help us if you went through logically exactly what happens (if anything) when you turn the key etc.

Hi David Pye,

Thanks for your message.
Mostall other electrics work except central locking & red immobiliser led.
Instrument panel lights all come on including glow plugs orange squiggle (our first diesel!). When the squiggle goes out and you turn the key nothing happens.
I have just been out side for your specific test and with headlights on - turn the key and nothing happens to light strength. The horn works well.
Whats an alarm spider please?

Yours Nomadbob
