Have in the past encountered problems with the blower motor on my D2 and have now solved the problem, required a new resistor pack which costs over £100.

I have now managed to find the part number of the suspect part namely a transistor, not knowing much about them looking for help to identify the exact one required.

The new one has the following stamped on it -

Toshiba 2SD1460

Cant find much on that particular number when I search Google, and seem only to be data sheets.

I have found this
http://www.nteinc.com/specs/2300to2399/pdf/nte2349.pdf

which I think is the same part but dont have the knowledge to confirm this.

Anyone able to confirm and also best place to buy.

I intend to post a 'how to' when I can source a new one

Yes - Indeed, but instead of spending all that dosh, its just the transistor that needs replacing and that's what i'm looking for, doesn't help me but for the sake of others who have the same problem

AAAAAA:doh:......good point, ....... about the transistor it doesnt have to be the same brand so if u find something with similar(or close) parameters and it physicaly fits, put it on and it will work.

If you do this repair, try and fit a bigger heat sink to the back of the tranny and use matching grease(heat sink compound)-these babies can run at 30 AMPS-lot of heat to dump,if you can stop it running hot ,will last longer

Dont think you can as the entire unit fits into the blower motor and is shaped to fit.

This is a known problem for Disco 2 re the blower either on full or not at all. As said I've replaced the whole unit but would like to repair my old one as a spare and hopefully assist anyone else with the same problem. £100 for that little ****ty part seems excessive.

The part you chose as an alternative looks a good match but you need to know if the original is NPN or PNP-I would guess PNP as you should have +ve volts on the collector for output to the motor-(assuming the motor is -ve ground)but don't quote me,it is 20 yrs since I was at college.Paying £100 for sodding tranny is a wind up

I tried a Google search for a double Dutch translator but couldn't find one but luckily work with a guy who takes the CPC catalogue with him when he visits the little boys room, pity he's went home for the christmas holidays to the Western Isles but should be back early January.

Thanks for all your help so far.

I asked around and i found out these similar pieces : MJ11016, MJ11014, BDX69B maybe one of these is easyer to find, they'll do the same job
