Hello folks,
I have just purchased my ex-National Trust Double Cab and am now fitting it out with loads of stuff. As you can imagine the cost is mounting.
As most of the interior is new I thought I would treat myself to a new steering wheel. This is the part of me that comes into contact with the car after all.

A Mota Lita is about £180 (with Boss)(I have had one of these on my old Caterham 7 and I know the quality is superb.)

What of the Mountney's? At about £50 all in they are considerably cheaper. I have read that if you take them off road they can bend. I don't intend to do anything radical off road except the odd rough track.

Those of you who have Mountney's fitted what do you think?

Kind regards,
Rowly

Jesus H Christ, your kidding??
I've got a Mota Lita on my 90, it was on it when I bought it. I had no idea it cost so much. Don't know much about the Mountney's strength but did have one on my mini :D

Not kidding! £125 for the wheel and £60 for the boss.....Thats the Shiny shiny.
All black saves £10-20.

I have a mountney on my 110. It's on it's second landy and is still going strong. The small mountney sticker which was stuck on the leather didn't last 5 mins but apart from that it's much better than the standard steering wheel.

Cheers Ratty, I've been reading these posts for a while and your comments are particularly valuable. A Mountney (or four at that price!) it is.

What do you reckon to this lot:

Exmoor trim Outlast modular seats front, High backed outers on reclining frame for extra legroom in the rear.

Air con.

Noise Killer kit.

Black modular wheels with Grabber AT2's 235/85 R16

Lok Box

Black rock sliders

NAS rear lamps

High Ratio Transfer box with Autologic tune.

Alpine X305 (iPod unit) 4 speakers and a Kenwood Sub.

Cat 1 Alarm and Central locking.

Ifor Williams Canopy with door.

A Bar and driving lamps.

The idea is that it will ferry the family up to the North on Motorways and then go along rough tracks to Holiday destinations, dive sites etc.

Mountney's are good but i doubt the quality is anywhere near the moto ones. I went for a mountney, its 14" At 1st i thought, feck what have i done! It was really small coming from the standard wheel, but you soon get used to it and now i love it. They are pretty basic but good quality. not sure how you would bend one though? Try a mountney and see how you get on, you can always sell it on Ebay, they return almost what you pay for them.

Cheers Guys,:crazy_driver:

Now all I have to do is find a dealer and work out which Boss I need for a Type B steering column.

You'll need to make a little mod to the boss to get the indicators to self-cancel.
I just drilled and tapped a small hole and screwed on a small aluminium block.

tis easy - might not be needed if you get the exact one for the vehicle.

You might have to show me that one Trew, i gorra mountney on mine and the indicators don't cancel (other than going left when yer foot comes off the clutch and yer knee self cancels it!!:D:D) - i thought they just didn't have self cancelling indicators all this time!!!
