Electrical interaction, Headlights/dir.indicators/wipers

Defender 110 300Tdi 1998
I would be grateful for a solution to this intermittant fault.
Switch on headlights, wipers start and remain on for an indeterminate time irrespective of wiper switch position although the wipers do respond if 'fast wipe' position is used. Similarly if headlight 'flasher' is used wipers start. Also when direction indicator switch is indicating a Left turn the wipers are activated, oddly this does not happen for a right turn!
Have tried unplugging and replugging various relays. I suspect it could be an earth fault but have no idea where to look.
Any ideas gratefully received!

i had the very same problem and had all the relays ect out gave up and phone an auto electrition
anyway it was a bad earth going to the inside of the wing

what he done to check was used a jump lead from the engine to the innerwing earth and the problem went away
then relocated the earth to a new part of the wing

problem solved cost about fifty quid
