Apologies for bluntness, but 1998 110. UJ on front prop has just self destructed, scared the **** out of me, if i take off the front prop and engage diff lock could i drive it carefully the half mile home?

I've done 20 miles with no front prop (snapped it off road). GO SLOWLY! make sure you tie up the front of the transfer box or it will hit the floor and sound like a machine gun.
When mine snapped the back Uj was still attached to the transfer box so it was spinning around and hitting the bottom of the car. I had no way to get it off so I used bungee chord to jam in the uj so it stayed straight (if that makes any sense). I assumed his had broke in the same way mine did.
I believe th eU/J that you refer to is called a 'prop shaft'
No the prop shaft was in the boot along with the front uj. It was the one that is splined and slips into the prop shaft so it can extend that was still attached to my transferbox.

always makes me laugh when i do a 'flange' gasket on a prop...

Sorry to interupt chaps, got the prop off now, what a fookin mess, going to get the motor home now

Is the prop damaged or just the u/j buggered?
