Chaps and chapess's, i am replacing my knackered 3.5 efi v8 lump with a 1994 disco 3.9efi v8. its all going back in my defender 90 and going well ish.
When i bought the engine i got every thing bar ecu. Now ive been told by a few that any 14 cux ecu will fit and all i need to do is replace the resistor in the harness so as the ecu stops looking for cat/lambda.
But there seem to be several different types of 14 cux ecu's.
Can any one 'elp, maybe if youve got a 94 ish v8 disco you could look at the part no on the ecu for me?
Cheers Nickvh:confused:

Hi, 3.9 exdisco unit in my 110, came from 96 model two numbers
AMR3242 and symbol like merc star and then 80505 A
HTSH
You will also probably need a speed pulse unit that fits in the speedo cable line as well . I think they come from early inj range rovers. :) was yours a factory V8 ?

Thanks fella, and i take it you mean was the orig lump factory?
Na, basically a 90 body and chassy with classic range rover running gear ect and engine. A hybrid so ive been told, but she was prof done just had suffered with a clown in city,so never really got used, just abused.
Only had her a few months but am hooked now.
Really thankfull for your help, if ever in berkshire i owe you a beer.
Kindest regards Nickvh

The part numbers for the ecu did change I think there are 3 or 4 but the internals are the same. The original part number on my '91 3.9 Classic was PRC7081. the original unit had a socketed chip and went west, so I put in a second hand ecu and got a spare just in case. The spare unit is a later one, part number AMR1424, it runs just the same, the only differences I am aware of is that the later one doesn't have a socketed chip and the outside casing mounts are slightly different.

With regard to the resistor, I seem to remember this is listed as the tune select resistor, for EU and UK, non-cat you want the one with the green wire, 470 ohm.

Hope that helps.
