engine stops!!!

Landrover defender 1997 300 tdi.

When driving the vehicle the engine will cut out. I have then found that by removing the ignition key and operating the key fob switch alarm off button the vehicle will then start as normal. The problem has happened twice in the last week!. I have owned the landrover for 10 years and have never had this problem. Can anyone help?
