Was it a cheap air one, as was looking at one may I ask? Yes less is better enough to cut out rust

Ah. Thanks Phil. That puts things in to perspective for me. We have no idea where the V5 would be. Could we get one with a VIN No.?

The whole point of coming here was to not find out through spending time and money on something that might be pointless.

iPhone but I turned them off years ago and I do not know (or want to know) how to turn them back on.

You may be the first to find out kiddo. 🫵😎

I think this image is it, for the BMW equivalent M62, showing a straight line due to vanos? I normally do not get over 1,500 RPM in my daily driving, so I am barely using the power of the car, but I feel no need to do that. Given that the...

Have you checked that you have not nudged the the dash dimming button, you would not be the first to have done it and stipped bits apart before finding out.

If you have a registration it may help. Otherwise it’s a project worth £1-2k at the most. Can only be sold as spares if no v5 or vin plate

Anyone know what diameter duct this is? May as well replace it while I'm here

You could put a tap in one of the coolant lines, most are 15mm id, which is what most UK houses run for hot and cold water circuits, so shoudl be a cheap/easy job. But I would check the cooling diagram schematics first in case the heater circuit...

Most people with the GAP tool will be vin locked to their vehicle, you can add extra vins for 60 odd quid each.

👍 I'm not sure where the emojis are if your on the pc. 🤷

Usually later in the revs range. Most petrol on turbos are at there best around 3k through to 5k revs. Motor depending also and if there are camshaft timing devices that shift torque points😵🫣 How bloody complicated does it need to be😂

The BMW inpa software may should work on your car, its a free download but you need the right cable to connect to a laptop there are companys that will see you the cable and software along with back up for about £70 may be worth a shot ibelive...

Thanks Phil. Any idea how to sell it / what it should be priced at?

Very good point. I do not know how to do emoji but if I did I would do the same face. I am now wondering how to find the torque curve of the 4.4 petrol L322 engine...

I was not concerned but if I changed them for newer diffs without rust that adds a small extra benefit to making the change. I have no plans to change the diffs due to the rust. My aim was to reduce RPM during steady driving on motorways /...

As long as the engine is in it's natural torque curve or it'll labor from the lower revs possibly 🤔

Hi John, Probably not the best place to ask here as we are mostly owners of the original Defender and previous models on this forum. JLR should have given the D300 another name as it has very little in common the old model and having the same...

It would be unusual to have 2 O rings facing each other. It you can find the size I've got hundreds here and will happily send you one. Bemble might know if he's still around.

I would do what is easiest/quickest, less cut out the better for the car. How are you joggling the steel sheet? I ask as I bought a joggler (cheap one) and it is bloody rubbish.

My l add to my little bottomless money pit? Booked in with my local indie garage for new brake pads and front suspension arms etc, the usual clapped=out at over 140,000 miles syndrome. It also needs 2 rear caliper replacing, in is so badly siezed...

If your concerned about the diff outer casings, as long as there is no oil seepage they're good to go. Have seen the cars and the rust in the UK that drive in Salt treated roads😵

Didn't know that LPG was still obtainable, can't remember the last time I passed a garage that sold it. OK in cylinders & better suited to rural gas boilers & fork-lifts ;) Thought I'd save money by having my 3.9 RRC converted to gas back in...

My diffs are incredibly rusty. I mentioned that they are so rusty that the MOT guy mentioned them but I already was aware that they are really rusty. I am talking about flakes of metal falling off them when you touch them slightly, so badly that...
