Hi again,
Thanks to everyone who responded to my first inquiry about the the
used previous-rental 92 wrangler. Some people said stay away from
rentals, others said to look it over good, and so on.
I looked at some other jeeps today (2 CJ7's, a CJ5, and another
Wrangler). Nothing was too great and I find myself back again at the
rental place. He's got another Wrangler that I really like. Here are
the specs:
1991 Wrangler
4 cyl Engine, 5 speed. PS, PB. 150K miles. You can see photos of it at
www.baypc.com/wrangler
I don't need anything fancy, just a daily ride (5 miles to/from work
and some market visits) to last 9 months to 1 year. He's had it for 2
years, bought if from a private party. So it has about 50K rental
miles on it out of the 100K. I'm not sure of it's history before that,
if it's been on the island since new or not. I just moved here 3 weeks
ago and am renting a cheapo Tercel for $20 / day. For the same price,
I can rent this exact Jeep for a week, two, a month, whatever, to see
if I like it and so on and then the price will go towards the
purchase. If I don't like it, I can just give it back or whatever. I'm
going to be renting a car regardless, so I might as well rent
something that's towards a possible purchase, right? I can always back
out of buying it. This way, while I keep my eye open for other private
party deals, I can be driving this one out, have a mechanic check it
out and so on. Should I give it a try???
Thanks again for all your advice.
