hello

looking at another freelander diesel today its a v reg diesel but it wont go into gear from start but if you start it in gear it will go into the gears then.

do you think it is a box problem or a clutch cylinder problem?

cheers dean

its yer clutch. try this simple test..

the normal test would be to start yer injun and depress pedal until you can just engage 1st, then slowly release pedal until yer JUST start to creep forward ( biting point). if there is a huge distance, oh perhaps 15mm or more then yer clutch is on its way out.
in your case yer gonna have to start in 1st and see how far yer have to release it to get to the biting point. i suspect yer gonna have to release it by atleast 25mm

Clutch Cylinder problem, its not pushing the plates apart far enough, have had this problem on a fiat doblo, was misdiagnosed as a worn clutch plate but problem returned bout a month after new clutch was fitted, turned out it was the clutch cylinder all along

been and had a look when the engine is ticking over you can smell the clutch burning, it has had a new clutch and cylinder, when started it jilted forward even out of gear??

Sounds dodgy, was the clutch and cylinder fitted by a garage or was it a d.i.y job ? have heard of people fitting clutch plates the wrong way round :D
or is it possible that the cylinder hasnt been bled properly when its been fitted so its got air in the system
I would keep looking if it was me
