Still working my way through the rats nest of wiring in the 90 200 TDI.

I have various wires I need to identify (or rule out of caring about).

I’ve sorted a bunch through elimination but have various things just not plugged into anything.

I’ll post in separate replies to allow people to reply to each one.

Two wires behind the brake servo (green into red/black)

Where should these route to internally?

Two relays behind the fuse box. Nothing seems to stop working if they’re removed.

Purple wires, left hand stalk, cut off
Theses are the the two purple ones that you can see in the foreground with the pink but connectors attached to red wires. Where does the rest of the red wire go? Purple and black is the horn so guessing this is the horn circuit and an separate horn switch has been added somewhere else on the dash?

The top one looks like it should be the starter relay based on the wiring colours (brown, red/white wires) but that should mean it doesn't start when it is removed so I may be wrong there.

The lower one looks like it should be for the heated rear screen based on the wirirng colours (black/white wires).

Horn was totally goosed so I’ve fitted a new one on a new circuit to be sure.

You’re right about the starter. Removing it prevents it starting. Other one doesn’t seem to impact anything (and I don’t have a heated rear screen) so it’s probably redundant.

If you don’t have a heated rear screen that would be why it doesn’t impact anything. The looms were the same it just depended if you had anything on the other end. I have mine all wired in as I used to have a heated screen (but never used it) and currently don’t. So full loom, relay and switch are in place but the plug connector at the back doesn’t connect to anything.

If it’s an early glass fused motor that other relay could be the high beam/fog light override.
Check high beam works
Check fog works
Really won’t allow the use of both at the same time but needs to be fitted(5pin)

High beam and rear fog light both don’t work (neither does flash). New relay may be needed.
