Wipers won't stop - new motor

The wiper motor on my 1999 Td5 was making a bad screeching noise (I could feel the noise was coming from the motor when I touched it), so I bought a new OEM motor ( RTC3867) from LR Parts. After swapping the gear etc & re-installing it works on SLOW and FAST with no noise, BUT it won't wipe on Intermittent (which it did before), and more alarming the wipers won't stop until I turn the ignition off.

I have removed the motor again, and the small white plastic pin inside is free to move (I _think_ this is something to do with the auto park mechanism?), and I am using the original gear with the white plastic cam on the back which rubs against this pin. The 5-way electrical connector looks the same & fits fine, with no bent pins.

Any ideas what is going on / how to resolve? Might I have bought the wrong motor?

Don't forget the wiper relay. These go wrong and can yield all sorts of weird wiper behaviour. They're more than just a relay - there's a printed circuit board inside. I don't think there were many variants of the motor mechanism - I've replaced my own and also some in freinds' Land Rovers and its always been the same part number.

Try using the park switch from original motor on the new motor.
