Since I’ve had my 90 speed 2 on the front wipers has worked at the same speed as speed 1? Never really bothered me. Recently they stopped parking and speed 2 don’t work at all now so thought I’d have a look, whipped off the cover removed the park switch sprayed with WD worked it a bit , put it back on and hey presto they park again. I’m getting a feed from the switch on position 1 then another feed when on position 2 so am I right in thinking it’s a motor fault causing position 2 not to work.

Iirc the motors speeds are controlled by tracks internally incl the intermittent bit, but think theres a relay on top of trans tunnel by fuse box for the intermittent bit?
You can also make your intermittent adjustable by fitting a VW car relay.

Think vw relay is the one marked 99?

Often old motors are just worn and stiff and will only go at the same speed on both settings.

+1 - strip and clean the motor and gearbox - get some decent grease in all the bearings and in the gearbox, and try again.... :)

Mine doesn't have the. Intermittent function, but cheers anyway.

Might give that a go tomorrow

Cheat like i did today, end of dash off, top bit 3 screws, bottom bit 5 screws, loosen cable to motor nut, remove motor c clamp 2 screws, turn motor to gain access to the cover screws x 4, remove screws dose up with aerosl grease (not wd40 etc but grease) and put back together, easy and fast.

Just done that this morning except I also removed the wiper arms and pulled the rack out, cleaned greased and refitted it. When the weather warms up a bit I will probably rip the whole lot out and replace with new but at least I have one speed working and they are parking which was bugging the crap out of me.
