Hi all I’ve just been told that I must have the snow symbol on new tyres if I want to drive through Germany in December or produce a recept to show they were purchased before last year.
As I’m after a new set of tyres what would anyone with snow driving experience recommend as I will be on the motorway from UK to Bulgaria not sure I need them but I’m bound to get stopped if I don’t
They are going on a 2008 110 Defender

If you drive through Germany in winter, you must have winter tyres fitted. Mud and snow is not enough. Even 4 season are not good enough, they must be dedicated winter tyres. I was under the impression that this had been the case since 2010, at least. So I would suggest any tyres used in winter in Germany purchased after 2010 must be winter tyres. (I say 2010, because that's when I last lived there, and it was just coming in).
