Wing mirror repair - Freelander 2

Does anyone have any advice on repairing wing mirrors on a FL2. I have 59 plate FL2. The drivers side wing mirror has become dettached from it's base unit and is only held in place by the electric cable. I've looked at both sections and can't see anything that appears to be sheared on snapped, but can't figure out how to reattach it. Can't see anything useful on youtube and no repair kits on ebay, just whole replacemnt units. Any advice?

In general, the mirrors need replacing if broken.
Got any pictures of the mirror?

If they are anything like the disco 3 units, then the pivot is all alloy, and they corrode quite badly under the plastic/rubber covers.
