I just purchased both upper and lower Windscreen rubber seals for my Land Rover series 3 88 1974. The guy I bought them from told me the lower seal has an adhesive on it but the upper seal to roof was thicker and had no adhesion? He said ide need to find a glue for it? Does this have to be "glued" and if so whats the best glue to use please?
Thank you. :)

I don't think either need gluing but, as old landys don't fit together as well as new ones, it's probably a good idea to seal them with silicone or screen seal or sikkaflex or similar particularly where the seals meet the door rubbers. Don't glue/seal at all if you remove the top every summer and drop the screen, do seal if you want to stay dry!

I originally fitted my top seal with a contact adhesive. I ended up having to also seal with Sikaflex, particularly where it meets the door seals as water gets in and runs behind the seal, dripping into the cab from anywhere it can.

The bottom seal was a self adhesive foam affair. I ended up 'skinning' the seal with Sikaflex as it's open cell foam which will hold moisture under the screen and probably cause corrosion on the bulkhead.

I actually wished I had considered other rubber seal options offered from companies like Seals Direct.

Interesting Land Raver, I just took a look at seals direct, looks very good for all kinds of seals! And they are actual RUBBER like you said. Can you use similar seals as the windscreen ones to replace seals like the tub to hard top sides or hard top to roof etc or are they a special shape? I have to do all these on my series 3

I'd imagine you probably could if you chose the correct size carefully.
