Window problem

Hi there,
Sorry if this has been covered previously but I have just purchased a 2006 Freelander HSE and the drivers window and drivers side passenger window both won't close.
The motor makes a whirring sound but glass doesn't go up.
Any ideas if it can be repaired or it's a total replacement,and best place to order parts from.

It's going to be the cables. Very common problem, and very cheap to fix. The cables will be under £10 per door, and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes per door to do.
