Winch worries

My winch has decided to stop working

The solenoids still click but the motor doesn't turn. I was pulling a Disco onto a trailer with it and it did the job fine. I unhooked it and tried to wind it back in and nothing except the clicks - it doesn't work in either direction now.

Anyone know owt about these wee beasties?

Sadly no

oo! fuse then, or burnt out motor, which i doubt as you dint mention smoke nor burning smell

No fuse and none of that horrible smell that accompanies burnt out electrics :-(

time to get yer mutimeter out and start checkin ****

Did the multimeter thang and finally tracked it down to a corroded contact on the secondary side.

The fix was way beyond my meager talents so I dropped it off at my local friendly auto electrician. £60 quid lighter and having just bolted it back on it's working.

Now I'm on a misson to get stuck somewhere so I can :::koff::: field test it LOL
