Winch Capacity, worth installing?

Hi all. I've been given a Superwinch 1301. After a quick look online I've found it's a 4000lbs winch.
Is this worth bolting on the series or will it be too weedy? Am I right in thinking a snatch block doubles up the pull?

To put it in perspective: my quad 's fitted with a 3000lb winch
Yes a snatch block does 1/2 the pull

A snatch block does double the pull, plus you'll be deploying twice as much rope which also increases the power. the more rope left on the drum the lesser the power. 4000LB is borderline, I'd say it was good enough to get yourself out of the mire if you still have drive, but don't expect to be doing winch challenges with it or pulling people out that are proper stuck.

hmmm ok yeah I thought it might be a bit weedy. I more liked the idea of it in the just in case sense where If I get stuck it might help me out. Not that I usually go out on my own. Hmmm well I guess it wouldn't hurt to bolt it on.
I missed a good one on ebay recently. 12000lbs winch with sythentic rope and remote control. Went for £160. It was £160 more than I wanted to spend though.
