I have a husky winch fitted to my 110, with what i am assuming is the original steel cable. Every time I use it (not that often) I swear at it and say I need to replace the cable but have never got around to it as it is difficult to justify for the use it gets. however I am fed up of the slicing my hands apart, even wearing gloves, whenever I handle the cable due to broken strands sticking out.
I am looking to replace it with a synthetic rope, does any one have any recommendations?
Does anyone know what the maximum length of synthetic rope a husky drum will take?
I have also read conflicting advice on whether or not I need to replace the fairlead or not, I currently have the standard roller, do I need to change this or not?

I would assume you can fit slightly longer synthetic ropes than steel, due to compression, so use that as a guide and get a winch extension piece for the times the extra is needed. As for what type, so long as it’s from someone reputable, and Dynema, then I don’t think it matters too much.

When I looked at getting and fitting a winch, the few suppliers I spoke to said they wouldn’t sell a roller fairlead with a synthetic rope. They didn’t say why, or that it wasn’t advised, just they wouldn’t do it.

I've used WARN Winches loads recently and they all use fabric ropes now that I cant fault and easy to interchange.
Maybe look at there spares ?

I like the steel cable, its cheap and theres always bargains on ebay, its tough and best of all no one wants to nick it!
