Starting to wire it back up, Now I did not take it apart so aint got a clue about this, Just Guessing really and trying to understand diagrams.
Engine harness done starts first time.
Wired the dials up today, used harness off spare loom as PO had labelled some of them and can just make out the writing as it has faded.
Anyway Im sure they are all in correct place in pic 1, except for one Lone Black wire in pic 2, can not find another end for it to plug in to, when Ignition is turned on all that happens is the Needle on Battery dial moves , nothing else no bulbs light up or anything.
What have I missed or done wromg ??
Thanks

Fuses ok

Might have to check for 12v with test lamp or meter starting from ignition switch and try to follow wiring diagram
Cant even understand the diagram, just starting to get my head round it. Is there a Specific fuse to check, I have the Glass fuses. ?
all the clocks are earthed to each other then an through loom to an earth point
Found connections for every wire except that Black one.

Your best friend here is a multimeter or a circuit tester. I had a similar issues with the electric string birds nest a former owner had left leaving me to trace all kinds of wires behind the clock, lighter and binnacle.

and what do they plug into
From what I could make out on labels from PO, there was speedo top and bottom, fuel and temp gauge then there earths, then the green wires to each dial.
In th loom pic above that has a couple of female black socket connectors that might take your spare male black ?
There was a Black and Brown but these are already plugged in to the main Loom over the top, just leaving this 1 black.

the instruments have to go to a earth point on the bulkhead

Thanks, will try earthing this black to it tomorrow.
Really sorry but should have said, don't know if it will make a difference or not, but there is no lights working or fitted YET,
I am waiting on Hazard switch coming so I can get Indicators set up.

We'll Igive up, tried earthing ect, cleaned all earth's up but still nothing. At one point the bloody heater kept starting up everytime i turned ignition on, don't know what the fu!!CK I done there, had to pull the plug off it. Now back to Square 1

may be of use
Thanks Bit of progress , put the Origional harness that joins up to the Dials , Still got that one bare Black wire cant find connection to plug it in to.
Anyway waiting on Hazard switch but used this here to test https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/25376-hazard-switch-indicators-fault-diagnosis/
Git all Indicators working. couldn't get side lights to work for some reason. Also wired fuel tank wires and got fuel gauge and fuel light working. Still got loads to learn about this Electrical stuff but will work my way through slowly

Where's the best place to earth the rear Lights to body, found a couple of decent bolts for the front but cant seem to find any near for the rear.
