Just had the car serviced this Friday. Today I took it for a trip to my parents and about 40 minutes in I received a reduced performance warning. I stopped, turned off the car, turned it back on and now it's gone. Now throughout the journey, the car has been making a loud whooshing sound when accelerating (an issue that has only been evident today).

I've since popped the bonnet to examine various hoses as other other threads have suggested this may be the intercooler hose or turbo hose. The engine bay is clean and dry, save for the picture attached. It looks like the pipe is tearing slightly and moisture has collected around the tear. Now, I'm a novice to cars so any advice on (i) what this pipe/hose is, (ii) how serious the issue is and whether i can continue to run the vehicle and (iii) how I go about getting it repaired would be much appreciated.

Thanks all!

Looking at the front of the engine you will see two rubber hoses with a plastic section between them. Check those.
Thanks for this. Had a nosy at those parts and can't see or feel any tears. I think it may be the intercooler hose. Just taken it back out for a drive and at 2500 revs the whistling is super loud on the drivers side. At the picture above, there's a hose at the bottom of the engine bay, with fabric/a tear showing with moisture surrounding the area. Is this the intercooler hose?

There's one that runs across the front, at the bottom of the engine just below radiator. That's the intercooler hose. You should see in going into cooler on drivers side.

Thanks, I've had a look around the Internet and landed on the same conclusion, it's awfully loud on the drivers side when accelerating and seems to be the same part as schematics that I've seen. Apparently it's a regular issue...

Thanks for helping narrow this down, appreciate it.

The plastic attached to it routes down to the intercooler hose at the bottom.

Thanks for this. The cars in the garage at the moment with a view to getting looked over tomorrow. The only picture I have is the attached. At the bottom of the engine bay it appears that the intercooler hose has a gash (fabric protruding outwards) with moisture surrounding the area (circled in blue).
