Hi,
I need some advice please.

I’m changing the rear cross member on my 1999 TD5 Defender 110, and when taking out the fuel tank, I snapped one of the fuel lines going into the sender. It’s actually the HP feed (green line) that snapped...

The sender is fine, but I’m scratching my head how to repair the broken end of the fuel line so it connects with the sender again.

Does anybody know if there’s a kit? Or do I need a new fuel line complete?

The fuel line is rigid, so I didn’t think a jubilee clip would work, although thinking more, I could sleeve something outside which might work, but I’d still need a replacement end that fits the sender.

What a nuisance for a silly wee bit of plastic.
Anybody been through this problem before? I’d welcome any advice.

Thanks...

Stan

google yni500030k,its for discovery but should fit a defender too

Thanks... That info will be handy if I do need to splice a new end onto the fuel line.

Ha ha. Image is upside down, but the black tip was the broken part that was fixed to the fuel line, and fits inside the green clip.

I’ve found a bit aluminium tube that’s the same 8mm, and wedged a washer on to replicate the broken end as best I can... With the extra length, I should be able to work out some kind of sleeve and jubilee clips. Hopefully it’s all tight enough to be fuel proof.
Only one way to find out....
