hi guys, back again for help on Freelander. I have a 1.8 petrol r reg, its on its third hg, 1 new manifold gasket, new clutch and hydrolics last January, and had the sub frame captive bolt welded back at drivers side rear this November for mot. have noticed a banging noise everynow and again when letting up clutch and now have to rev quite hard to get it to pull away when been driving for a while with a lot of clutch judder, is there something I can adjust on here or is it a cheap clutch? had to replace the alternator belt a month ago as snapped, but since then have noticed quite excessive oil consumption the past month, the car starts ok in morning but with a cloud of white exhaust smoke just on initial start up, but very noisey tappets, even when oil topped up, drives lovely with no smoke or misfiring. thought it might be head gasket again, but on water or oil in water tank or on oil cap, any ideas guys? could the clutch excessive oil use be linked? can not see any oil leaks on drive, which I thought I might with all oil been used and there doesn't seem to be any sitting in the engine guard below sump.:-(
