White Rim Trail, Moab UT

I'm considering making a trip from my home in VA to UT to check out the
White Rim Trail in Moab. Does anybody have any information I should know
about it? I'll be in a stock Jeep Rubicon and have some off road experience.
Is body damage likely on the trail? Several years ago I was there and made a
loop that had us come down Shafer Canyon. The loop I was considering is to
take Long Canyon road to Mineral Road to White Rim Road to Shafer trail. We
would probably camp at Murphy Hogback. Thanks in advance for any help.

You do need a permit for the trail, get one in advance to ensure you can get the camping spot(s) you want.

If it's dry, you'll be fine. A 2WD high clearance vehicle could do it.
If it's wet, the road can turn into clay. You can get stuck even w/
chains on a 4WD in some sections. Spring & Fall (starting about
mid-sept) are the best times to avoid both the heat and thunderstorms.
I got trapped down there for 3 days in late August due to one
thunderstorm.
