hi all yet another problem i have.td4 2006 got a whining noise inside car becomes more noisy around 50 to 80 kms per hr.open windows not coming from outside cant pinpoint it.had the prob since got the car 6 months ago and got no worse today had machanic have it on lift prop ok wheel bearings ok any ideas please

sounds like from the front more if the noise increases. lift the wheel test wouldnt show unless a grating or graunching sound comes from the wheel bearing.

Is the prop shaft still on? If so you need to take it off to rule it out as the source of the problem
Mine makes a slight whine on over run. I suspect it's just the IRD pinion running on the trailing side of the crounwheel. I just ignore it as it's quite common for the FL1 IRD to make some noise. There's a lot of gears in the IRD, so some general gear noise is to be expected.
If the whine is more than slight, then investigation is needed to find the cause.
