I want to buy a short wheel based vehicle similar to a Bronco II. I want
something that allows me to sit up in it, rather than crouching down to get in
and out of a bucket seat. And, my garage is not deep. It is less than 15 feet
deep. So I decided I might get a Blazer or Jeep or Bronco 2. I want something
used, maybe in the era of 88 to 95, and maybe spend less than $4,000 grand to
buy it.

I don't care what the thing looks like, I would like to reasonably comfortable,
it would be nice to have power steering, air conditioning, and standard shift.
I really don't even care if it has four-wheel drive or not. So, whatever is the
most reliable and for which parts and repair are least expensive.

What would folks recommend, and what should I avoid? Thanks!

Jeep YJ's are in your price range.

They are pretty reliable, easy to get parts for and work on and are a
lot of fun to drive. Up to 91 they had a 6 cyl carb engine, they went
injected after that. Both engines are strong like a rock.

Hello,

I am going to assume that since you don't want to pay alot for this
SUV, you don't want to spend weekends working on it either. The
following link is a great resource to help you check a vehicle's
reliability.

http://autos.msn.com/home/reliability_ratings.aspx

I don't know what to suggest, but the ratings for the two vehicles and
the models years you mentioned did not fair too well.

Hope this helps.
