what should i go for??? your recomendations please!

i od 70% on the road - 40% off road.

the off road driving i do is mainly fields but, after getting very stuck tonight - the normal car style road tyres must go!!!!! now, i cannot offord more than about £300 for the set - not too keen on remoulds so what do you suggest? i have been told to save and go for BFG all terrains but i feel there is a similar tread tyre out there at a better price (seems daft but budget is a huge limiting factor)

what do others use??? i have found an all terrain falken tyre at about £60 each - does anyone use these???

you wanna try some night classes in maths before spending any dosh on tyres.
:)

ps.
you can get 2 sets of tyres for about 400 quid. maybe get one set of each eh?

i was thinking of getting a cheap set of steel rims to put some chunky ones on and keep the landy alloys with road tyres but lets face it....... i'm never gonna switch em over all the time!!!!

if 2 sets would only cost £400 - what would you use for off road and where can i get em at £200 a set!! (fitting and balancing is no problem)

A friend has General AT2 he finds them pretty good vert similar tread pattern to BFG A/T but cheaper. 70% + 40% ???? Wet grass is like driving on ice so not surprised you got stuck.

i've had a traumatic night - leave me alone!!!!!

i got stuck tonight on one of my own fields luckily as i've gouged about 10 inch ruts across the middle!!! i ended up taking the seat covers off and pegged them into the ground in front of the tyres to get enough traction to de-rut the back end!!!

it was a bit ghetto, i've screwed the seat covers but i got out!

not many tyres can live on wet grass. must be one of the worst surfaces to drive on/off etc..

normal rd tyres can be had for about 40 quid each. which leaves 60 quid for an off rd tyre. there are plenty of choices for that.
(all figures are aprox).

set of steel extra wheels are available on ebay for next to nowt.

wheres the best place to get them from???

does anyone know of a reputable online dealer that has good discounts or is it worth talking to a local independant garage to see what they can get???

I use Military Michelin XCL on my Series III the best thing since sliced bread, fantastic off road and not bad on tarmac. They wear forever and are super tough 10 ply. still available new from MOD surplus for £75 each. Bought mine, 5 tyres on LWB rims second hand perfect condition £150.
