Which engine do I have? 200tdi or 19J ??

Hi guys, I've recently bought a defender 90 (1990 model) and I'm struggling to identify which engine it has. It was sold as a 200tdi, but the engine code in the log book suggests its a 19J. I'm fairly positive that its not at 19J based on pictures I've found.

I've also done some good ol' googling and seen it could be a 200tdi but from a disco.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

What's the engine number? That's a good way of checking. But, yes, looks like a disco engine. Tidy conversion.

You have the 200tdi in there, which itself is a good engine. Your year of motor should have the 19J but the 200 is a bit zippier and very reliable.

Thanks mate! Any idea where to look for the engine number on the block?

Yes disco 200tdi engine, engine number starts with 12L and will be on RHside of engine on block near 1st injector, lots don’t bother updating engine change
