Hello everyone, I've bought a 3.9 efi to go into my Lwb hi-top transit van and wanted to know what the range rover diff ratio was? And also what would the BEST ratio be for such a conversion, My transit diff ratio is a 5.14 and i think if i keep this ratio, the van will rev its tits off and only get 2-3mpg,and not be very fast.Any help greatly appreciated. Big Col.

Thanks i think i can get a transit diff at 3.69, that will just bolt straight in,Will that give me a good mix of cruising economy and acceloration?

I'm only using the van as a camper conversion and wanted something differant/ fun. It probably weighs the same as a range rover when it's empty, what sort of 0-60 mph can i expect and mpg?? I'll be running it on gas. You've already helped out loads, Cheers, Big Col.

No point in considering the diff ration on its own, it needs to be considered in conjunction with the overall diameter of the wheel, I should imagine very different. Having the same diff ratio, but smaller diameter tyres, will give low gearing.

I was going to keep the standard 15" wheels if i went any smaller the van would look pretty daft. I take it thats what you mean, ( that smaller wheels will reduce the gearing also??). And throw the speedo out ,too?Big Col.

Yes and No. The Range Rover is on 16" inch wheels, so if you use a RR diff ratio, it will be lower geared.
