My windscreen has got a huge crack across it, SO needs replacing.

Firstly, is the windscreen on a 1987 90 likely to be laminated? I only ask so i know whether this job should be a priority! Is it fairly straight forward to replace, is it a DIY job?

Where would be the cheapest place to get a replacement screen, I rang my local dealer to find out how much they would charge and after finding out it isnt heated or tinted, the said over £300! no thanks!

Hey chris,

i had to replace my windscreen on my 1991 200 tdi 90 after it was attacked by a kamakaze pidgin, my local national windscreens did the job in half an hour for 75 quid.

i think the windscreen would be laminated but dont quote me on that n you could do the job yourself but for 75quid is it worth it??

Chris,
Your screen must be laminated, as an old toughened screen would be in bits, as they shatter.
DIY replacement is possible but a bit of a pain, especially if the rubbers tight.
Best route would be second hand screen from a scrapper and bung the local windscreen man £20 for hitching it in.

If I remember right the screens are flat so can be cut from laminated sheet, although I'm not sure it's any cheaper than an off the shelf screen.

Cheers

Hahaha the pidgins are well hard up here
totally kamakaze, suicidal nutters

Does your screen look like this chris??
