Hi,

The 3 amigos lit up about 8 months ago while i was going over speed humps. Got my MOT this week and have found out abs light must be off. Having surfed the forum, i have read many possible causes, the first one being checking the senors!

So, is there any good beta/pictures on where to locate them.

Many thanks...

Mike

Easiest method for finding the sensors is pop the wheels off and follow the wires!!

You can't confuse them for brake wear wires because they go to the pad in the caliper, the other wires will go to the top of the ABS sensor. On the front wheels it should be on top of the swivel housing - you'll probably see a bracket where there is a union for the brake pipes - ABS sensor lives under the pipes but is accessible. On the rear ABS sensor is a bit harder to see but again, follow the wires - no problem.

Have you tried getting a blink code off the abs ECU? At least that way you'll have an idea where it thinks the problem is but based on what you have said I would go for a sensor. First thing to do would be push the sensors firmly into position and make sure they are correctly seated so that the air gap is not too big.

Sweet, thanks for that!

I'm now off to get a diagnostic, but i'm guessing and hoping its something simple as i was going over speed humps at the time they first came on.

It's only D2's that have the so called three Amigo's, D2's steering is more advanced and doesn't have swivels at the front.
The ABS sensor is build into the hub, your problem maybe a iffy hub bearing if so it's a new hub assembly I'm afraid as the bearing is not replacable.

Diagnosis was drivers side sensor. Just had the wheel off to check/clean the sensor area but disc retaining screw shreaded so couldn't get into see sensor.

Now off to buy some screws... so i can drill out the butchered one.
Should i just order a new sensor or could it the existing once just need playing with (as it cam on over speed humps)

ok, so i've stripped the off-side wheel to get to the sensor, cleaned, re-seated it and knocked it in with a blunt object.

haven't tested it yet as not got a multimeter.

however just driven it up he road and the light is still on.

Will they go off on their own or will i need to get them cleared??
