More wheels stuff!

I have the 18" rim on my 4.6 P38.
I'm about to replace the tyres all round with (probably) Insa Turbo Ranger and I have heard mutterings that the 16" wheel is better for this kind of 50/50 usage.

Any comments chaps?

16" will possibly be better because of their more flexible side walls. Specially if used off road with reduced pressure. They just look ****e. I have 19" on mine they look more balanced on the car. But i only ever go on mildly damp grass. :D:D

"Mildly damp grass" would seem to be the Achilles heel...

I keep bees in difficult places so I need a reasonable off-road capability - I don't think we need go so far as deflating tyres - better to move the bees!

Think i have mentioned momentum being king at some point in the past. :D:D

As a general rule my bees in difficult places are well behaved, however "momentum is king" is a very useful thing to remember when they aren't.
A bee can accelerate from 0-25 mph in <0.2s. Neither a Rangie or a beekeeper can do that. Only momentum can save you.....

And momentum will be the only thing that saves me if my wife ever reads this thread.....

I find the 16" a better ride especially off road.I use both 16" and 18" though.

P38 same as Disco 2. However, there are 2 lots of wheel studs, the P38 27mm and the Disco 17mm. Also, some Disco wheels have little clearance for the brake caliper.

Correction. Some of the Disco wheelnuts are 24mm not 17mm. Either way, the standard 27mm Rangie nuts don't fit in there! Also, while the Rangie wheel hangs on the hub on a lip, some of the Disco ones don't.
