Now then, as a complete Defender Newbie my first Mod will be the wheels/tyres. I have a 110 defender (1991), with a two inch lift already and 30mm wheel spacers - I also have (from my other 4x4) a full set of 33x1250x15's, and am going to pick up a set of 15'' defender wheels tomorrow. My question is this.....will these wheels fit straight on to my landy (without having to do anymore mods??........please say yes!!! someone....anyone!!!

It depends ...

The 15" tyres should fit 15" rims, but 'cos your tyres are 12.5 wide you really should have 10" or larger rims, but then they will possibly foul the rims 'cos most 10" rims are offset.

You might get away with 8" rims, but I wouldn't recommend them for much offroad use .. we had a friend roll his large tyres off small rims a couple of times in North Yorks forests ..

The first question I would be asking is if the tyres will fit the wheels. "15" Defender wheels" is a little vague... Precisely what wheels? Do you know the width?

You'll notice that I'm avoiding the question of "will these wheels fit my Defender"... But I'm sure you'll soon realise why that is... :D

If you already own the tyres and have already purchased the wheels, why not put them on and find out for yourself?

And don't, whatever you do, ask if those wheels will fit your Defender. Seriously, don't do it! ;)

haha, thank you for your answers - why should I not ask if they should fit (I'm new here lol).
OK, I'll explain better - the 33x1250x15's are on my Monterey -/trooper at present, these are (of course) 15" rims, but have a different wheel nut pattern to my landy.
I also have a set of off-set 15" landy wheels that currently have 235x75x15 gen' grabbers on (not much tread left) - I gues I was wondering if it was worth/possible to. get these on my landy - haha, be kind ;0))

The 235's will likely be on 7" wide rims, 7j usually, so it'd be daft to fit 12.5 tyres on those, you need 10j minimum.

Then you need to work out the offset of the rim against the width of the tyre and the available room under the wheel arch to work out if they'll actually fit.

If you do a search, it's all been covered! Stick around a while and all might become clear .. ;)

Thank you!! if not a little cryptic ;);)

first off its not a fecking husky, secondly do a bloody search! Tyre threads on here are like STD's in Leeds.......they're everywhere, unwanted and **** everyone off who has the misfortune of stumbling upon them

ok, educate me....

We have so many 1 post wonders turning up, not bothering with the search function, and asking various versions of "What are the biggest wheels/tyres I can fit on x vehicle?" that it's become a running joke on the forum.

You've been quite fortunate in that the angry mob have not turned up just yet, so before they do, the following thread might help:

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/33-12-50-r16-standard-defender-61374.html

If not, try entering the tyre size in the search box and have a read through the countless threads that will come up. ;)

Oh and if you're unfortunate enough to have stirred up the locals, bear in mind that it's all intended as a bit of friendly banter, so don't take it personally :D
