Can anyone tell me what a "modular" wheel is?

What's not a modular wheel?

What's the difference between a SWB and a LWB wheel? Per series?

Which wheels need tubes? Which tyres need tubes?

Which tyres are crossply and which are radial?

Where's the wheel and tyre FAQ?

Bewildered of Ebley

Modulars are aftermarket wheels like these that usually come in white, black and grey. They also allow you to fit large tyres http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=281626319219&alt=web

Swb wheels are 5 1/2" and lwb are 6 1/2" so allow the fitment of slightly larger tyres and have different part numbers stamped on them when they are tubed or tubeless and the vast majority of modern tyres are radial

Thanks Marmaduke. Useful - I hadn't realised the LWB were wider....

But why "modular"? "Modular" implies construction in separable parts... or modules......

Can anyone tell me where I would find the part numbers for the various wheels?

Originally swb were fitted with 6.50 tyres and lwb had 7.50 tyres roughly equivalent to 205 and 235 in modern money. I'm using my mobile so can't help with part numbers but I can probably find them when I get to a PC

A modular wheel is simply a wheel thats made in several parts. Outer and inner rim and center usually.
Split rims are slightly different as they can be unbolted from the center and changed.
**** rims are the ones I have but not to everyones taste. :D
