thats a nice intro i suggest you go do that then go and adjust you steering stops that might work

Well done.
Yes turning your lock stops is the best way to prevent tyre rub. You shouldn't have to resort to spacers until you get to 35" tyres.
Does it rub both sides or just one?
When did it start to rub? have you lifted it recently???

rubs both sides changed from black mods to alloys iknow black mods set wider so would 30mm spacers be sufficient with alloys

the modulars were more offset then by the sounds of it. What allow have you gone to? LR ones or some aftermarket jobbies?
By turning the lock stops out you will lose some turning circle but you will hardly notice.
Its not like adding an extra bow thruster would help the QE2 out
