In the UK, thankfully.
My mate is visiting for a coffee and is complaining that the rear nearside brake (Hub and shoes set up) sticks on when parked overnight. He has to reverse to unlock it. He has cleaned up the shoes, it has a recent cable and works if used often but only siezes when parked overnight. Suggestions please.

Thanks Lads, my mate will follow the advice regarding the pivots in the hubs. He is a member of Landyzone but is dyslexic and is not keen to join in the forum.

Tell him not to worry about spelling and grammer cos we don't normally bother with them either

I think his friend is imaginary. It's another tratter boy pretending to own a buscuit tin, when really he has a Freelander.

Ok. Will let you orf his time. Now that we know yous likes Freelanders. :)

I had the same sticking parking brake problem, when I changed the shoes and drums the only thing that appeared to be faulty were both the automatic adjuster ratchet thin metal plates being bent out of line preventing the adjusters working. The handbrake linkage pivots were all free and well lubricated, after fitting the new shoes and drums and repairing the adjusters the brakes no longer stick.

Thanks for this info'. I think he checked the adjusters and seemed ok. He is going to check the brakes today again. I will let you all know if he finds out whats causing the prob.

It also depends on the year as to the brake layout, I think the rear brakes changed in 2001 so your friends brakes could be different to mine.
